Words are powerful in shaping the quality and direction of a person’s life. Considering the following quote, “They are never alone who are accompanied by noble thoughts”, the book A Thoughtful Calendar addresses nearly three hundred topics, offering a succinct quote and a corresponding scripture for each day of the year, with consideration of the seasons, holidays, famous birthdays, commemorations, and historical events.
The quotes have been gathered from such resources as talks, classes, personal study, movies and novels over a period of fifty plus years. Some entries have slight editing–primarily to facilitate a consistent format; and the vast majority of entries have added dimension with the inclusion of careful documentation.
About The calendar
A Thoughtful Calendar has been developed, using quotable quotes and scriptures carefully selected from thousands of entries. They cover a wide and balanced range of every-day subjects basic to most people. Not every quote comes with source documentation. Some quotes list for documentation, merely the source from which the quote was heard.
Some quotes are paraphrased as best remembered while taking notes. In a few rare cases, some quotes have been edited to facilitate a reader-friendly consistency. The quotes are taken from notes gleaned from sermons, talks, classes, personal scripture studies, inspiration, movies, novels, and from various other sources over a period of fifty plus years.
Each quote has an accompanying scripture which is carefully documented, and is presented as found in the given source, though with extraneous words removed in rare cases–primarily to accommodate the calendar’s structure and format.
Inasmuch as each month of the year has its own theme or spirit, the calendar selections, addressing nearly three hundred topics, offer a succinct quote and a corresponding scripture for each day of the year–with consideration of seasons, holidays, famous birthdays, commemorations, and historical events. Apology is made for the exclusion of countless quotes equally worthy of inclusion, but for the limitation of days in a calendar year. Listing of week days is not included in the calendar’s format to facilitate a perpetual use of the calendar, Leap Year included.
Many have enjoyed a daily quote just to get the day going.

About the author
The author has had an identified interest in writing since one of his grandmothers recognized his writing skill during his teens. Having been orphaned at 12 years of age, he began living with his mother’s parents. Later in college he studied Sociology and English, then spent a couple of years in humanitarian service in New Zealand, and a year of active military service during the Berlin Crisis. Upon college graduation, he taught high school English for several years, then pursued a Master’s degree in Social Work, followed by over thirty years as a clinical social worker and writer/editor for a state health department.
He has had a life-long drive in recording beautiful and meaningful quotes and poems which have helped mold his writing interests and have subsequently found their way into a number of books in his retirement years.
He has a love of the gospel of Jesus Christ; but in his concern over the general decline in scripture reading, and the fact that the average reading level is now below the Jr. high school level; therefore, he has had a major focus on and has spent decades in making scripture reading much more clear for the reader, while maintaining the integrity of original text.
He also has a rather palpable love of people, nature, adventure, music and literature, which is reflected in his writings. He is the father of five grown children, and is currently living with his wife and their aged cat.
